Can i fix a worn thread by the same size of reforming tap?

Question

Hi.

The thread(in the bore)on my eyeglasses worn-out and the

screw(end piece)is getting loose every 2 days after tightening it.

The screw size is M1.4mm and i would like to know:

If can i renew(reform)the worn thread in the bore with M1.4 forming tap(not cutting tap)

,which is the same size as the original screw or the M1.4 size forming tap may not do that

due to lose of material(worn bore thread)

so it won't have a material to work with in order to reform a thread?

Enlarging the hole and using a cutting tap is not an option since it is very delicate and small,

but reforming tap seems as a better option,so i wander if it can be done?

Thanks.
