which software should i practice

hi guys

i'm new to this forum, i'm doing final yr mech.2010 batch.i'm going to do "PLANT DESIGN SYSTEM" after completing B.E.

i just wanna know which software i can practice like hypermesh, abacus, microstation etc before starting piping.

anyone guide me...............plz

You must try also AutoCAD. It has a great features includes a full set of basic solid modeling and 3D tools also with the latest softwares includes the mesh technology. Hope this help.

Hi Hemchandran

There is no need of any software for piping at student level project.

You just try basic layouts in auto cad, like P & ID, Piping Isometric drawings.

For calculation purpose you can use ASME standards or other Piping Codes.

The calculation involves

Pipe Sizing, Pipe thickness, Pipe material selection and pressure losses.

You can do this basic calculations using MS excel spread sheet.

If you want the detailed idea then join any private institute, but they will teach you the basic funda's not the software.
