It has a great features includes a full set of basic solid modeling and 3D tools also with the latest softwares includes the mesh technology. Hope this help. Because, both of them has different kinds of features which are very useful. You just try basic layouts in auto cad, like P & ID, Piping Isometric drawings. For calculation purpose you can use ASME standards or other Piping Codes. The calculation involves Pipe Sizing, Pipe thickness, Pipe material selection and pressure losses. You can do this basic calculations using MS excel spread sheet. If you want the detailed idea then join any private institute, but they will teach you the basic funda's not the software. Best luck for the project.
