Utkarsh Saraswat
Wet region has dof 1 but we require 2 intensive properties (pressure and dryness fraction ) to tell the state of system so its dof should be 2 this is my doubt? 0 PUSHKAR SRIVASTAVA
Dryness fraction is not an Intensive Property.
0 Utkarsh Saraswat
Sir, Dryness fraction is intesive property as does not depend on total mass, vary as vapour content varies so dryness fraction is intensive property. 0 PUSHKAR SRIVASTAVA
Dryness fraction is dependant upon the mass of vapour present in the system, so it's a mass dependant property or Extensive property.
0 Utkarsh Saraswat
Dear sir, Please clear your concepts. In dryness fraction total mass is kept constant so It is intensive property.
0 आदित्य
Utkarsh Saraswat , I have same doubt. If you've got your answer can you tell me ?
0 G B Reid MIMechE, SIMarEST
This answer is from a kinematics perspective - if you are querying something other, please be clear in your query. In a system, if there is 1 DoF; there is 1 DoF. The "wetness" of the surface affects the coefficient of friction (mu) and is a non-dimensional multiplier...it will therefore have no effect on the number of degrees of freedom. I hope this helps.
