Total Harmonic Distortion measurement in mechanics

Recommended Posts

Good time of the day,

I have a question regarding usage of THD factor in mechanics. I have once read somewhere that THD is used in mechanics for measurements of the material aging or material stability. If that's the case could you please provide me some research article on this subject - THD factor in mechanics?

I am an electrical /communication engineer, so I've used THD only in my area. I am writing Master Thesis right now and would like to reference to some research article on the subject of THD factor in mechanics, but couldn't find any. Therefore, I will appreciate any references.

Kind Regards,

Dear Den,

That is a tough question. I've been working in applied mechanics for well over 50 years, and I cannot recall ever seeing THD used in a mechanics context. Frankly, it is pretty difficult for me to imagine where it might be useful.
